Ask the FDA to bring in more diabetes patient input! Sign a patient-led petition...

We've been troubled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA)'s movements of late because the direction the agency seems to be heading seems to be to make medicine harder to approve -when patients need it most! The drugs out there represent great strides, but with eight million people in the US alone with A1cs over 7 and with many people that have medicine that doesn't work anymore, some innovation would be welcome. We of course want all the innovation to be safe! That is the top priority. But we worry that development of new therapy will slow down at a time when more is needed.  See Diabetes Mine today where Amy talks to an eloquent diabetes advocate Rebecca Killion, who has also sat on FDA committees, notably one last July where she found some comments at the meeting worrying. We have the idea of giving more patient input to the FDA - if you agree, please sign our petition at healthefda.com. This is an important time with a new FDA commissioner to be announced shortly - show them how much we care about patient input by signing the petition and sending to your friends and family. In our view, more patient input would be a win-win all the way around.
