This evening our very own city hall in San Francisco went blue for World Diabetes Day. We had so much fun there, chatting with a range of people with diabetes - Amy Tenderich of Diabetes Mine was part of this WDD project, along with Manny Hernanez of tuDiabetes and it was such a pleasure to see them. The air was anticipatory for sure as we toasted all the amazing work being done in diabetes. Back last year when diaTribe and ADA were lobbying City Hall, we weren't sure they would say yes to lighting the dome blue - we are so glad they did for this day. WDD is such an amazing time to discuss prevention of diabetes complications, my biggest hot button. We all CAN work to avoid them or avoid worsening of complications - well controlled diabetes is the leading cause of NOTHING, remember ....that's my favorite part of November, remembering that. Here's to everyone working in diabetes to make this disease better and here's to everyone tonight who is making art from diabetes.
